Viral Video: Six persons including one juvenile produce before session Judge Thoubal; Remanded 11 days Police Custody:

In the shocking video that was widely shared on social media on 19th July, a mob of men from Manipur is seen parading at least two Kuki-Zo women toward a paddy field. Two more alleged accused were apprehended in connection with the viral video today. After the four alleged accused were produced before a session judge on Friday- the two others including one juvenile have been remanded into 11 days of police custody remand for further investigation of the case till August 1.

The arrested alleged accused persons had reportedly surrendered themselves before the police in connection with the case.
The arrested persons are identified as Pukhrihongbam Suranjoy 20 and another who is stated to be a juvenile as per the press release issued by the state government concern was produced before Session Judge Thoubal along with prayer for 11 days of police custody remand by a team of Thoubal district police for further investigation of the case.

The court on perusal of the case record and after hearing the submission of the IO of the case remanded them into Police custody remand till August 1 for further investigation of the case

Mention may be made that four other alleged accused persons arrested in connection have been remanded into 11 days police custody in connection with the case till 31 July by JMFC Thoubal yesterday and they are identified as Huirem Herodas, 30, son of late H. Rajen, Yairipok Pechi Awang like, Yumlembam Jeeban,20, s/ o Ibomcha, Nongpok Sekmai, Khundongbam Arun @ Nanao, 32, Shikhong bazar, Nongpok Sekmai and Ningombam Tomba, 22.

The State Police is making an all-out effort to arrest the remaining culprits by conducting raids at many suspected hideouts.
On Saturday the State Police and Central forces conducted search operations in the vulnerable and fringe areas of both valley and hill districts.
A total of 125 Nakas/ Checkpoints were installed in different Districts of Manipur, both in the hill and the valley, and the Police detained 396 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the State.
Movement of 839 (eight hundred thirty-nine) vehicles on NH-37 and 215 (two hundred fifteen) vehicles on NH-2 with essential items have been ensured.
Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and a security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles.

It was reported in some local daily newspapers that a large number of protestors form a mob and proceeded towards Kwatha village with the alleged intention to attack and burn down the village. However, the Superintendent
of Police· Tengnoupal District along with the Commandant of 20 Assam Rifles went to the village today and interacted with the villagers of Kwatha village. It is reported that there was no such attempt to burn the village.

The appeal is made to publish only verified information in sensitive cases and not to believe in rumors. Any circulation of unfounded videos etc may be confirmed from the rumor-free number -9233522822 of the Central Control room said a release from State Police. Further, the appeal is made to the public to return the looted arms, ammunition, and explosives to the police or the nearest security forces immediately.
