Thoubal Police officials seized 1460 suspected illegal codeine phosphate bottles seized in Lilong Chaobok Mairenkhun on Friday.

In a statement, police officials said “on receipt of a reliable input that a consignment of some illegal contraband has been received at the residence of Meraimayum (O) Farida Begum of Lilong Chaobok Mairenkhun, teams of CDO Thoubal led by O.Wangkhomba (MPS Addl. SP(Ops)), and assisted by Inspt. K. Nitaranjan Singh (OC/CDO), Thoubal along with women police under the supervision of Jogeshchandra Haobijam (IPS, SP, Thoubal) cordoned the said residence and conducted a house search and arrested one Meraimayum (O) Farida Begum (55) w/o M. Sarabuddin of Lilong Chaobok Mairenkhun along with seizure of 8 (eight) sacks containing a total of 1460 (one thousand four hundred and sixty) nos. of suspected illegal codeine phosphate bottles at 04:40 pm”.

“The arrested person along with seized items are handed over to Lilong PS and a case has been registered for taking further necessary legal action”, the statement said.
