“If Centre Decides the Riot against the Wishes of the Meitei People, I would Join and Lead the General Public in Their Fight against the Kukis” – Khuraijam Loken Singh, MLA –Wangoi AC

Khuraijam Loken Singh, MLA – Wangoi Assembly Constituency, said on Monday, in case the central government decides against the wishes of the Meiteis, he would join and lead the general public in their fight against the Kukis. He also said he is always there to fulfill the demands of the people the way they want.

The MLA said the above statement while thousands of men and women protestors handed over a memorandum consisting of nine demands. The protestors also submitted the same memorandum to the Ex-Minister Oinam Lukhoi Singh, Vice President of Manipur BJP Pradesh, and Heisnam Sukumar, Sub-Divisional Officer – Wangoi.

Thousands of men and women took part in the Peaceful Mass Rally organized by Young Development Union (YDUC) at Wangoi on Monday, the 29th of May 2023. The rally began from Wangoi Bazar Community Hall and marched more than 5 kilometers in the sun.

And the charter of demands includes,

  • Immediate Control over the Kuki Terrorists.
  • Illegal intruders from Myanmar should be stopped from entering the State.
  • Immediate implementation of NRC in order to maintain demographic balance in Manipur.
  • Taking urgent initiatives for the resettlement of the refugees.
  • No question of a separate administrative unit within the state under any circumstances as demanded by the ten MLAs of the Kukis.
  • Necessary actions should be taken against the ten MLAs under the framework of the Indian Constitution.
  • Hold the Central security forces accountable for the outbreak of ethnic violence and continuing targeted attack on the Meitei Villages in the foothill areas within the purview of SoO Kuki Militants (under UPF and KNO).
  • Respect the 2000-plus years of history of Manipur rooted in the hill and valley ecosystem.
  • Protect the territory, integrity, and unity of the State.

The huge crowd of people shouted slogans demanding the Withdrawal of SoO with the Kuki Militants, Saving and Protecting the Integrity of the People of Manipur, and Restore Peace and Harmony in the State. They also condemned the Killing of Meitei Civilians and indiscriminate arsoning of Houses belonging to Meiteis.
