The Senapati District Students Association (SDSA) has raised serious concerns after witnessing Assam Rifles personnel allegedly escorting armed militants in vehicles at odd hours in the district. During a press conference at the SDSA office, President Saloni Tony condemned the incident, which occurred in the early hours of February 22, when SDSA officials observed the paramilitary and militants operating in close coordination.

“This act poses a threat to the peace and tranquility of our relatively peaceful district,” Tony stated. The SDSA questioned whether such unwarranted collaboration is intended to sow mistrust among the local and neighboring communities. The student body also criticized the decision by the Director General of the Assam Rifles to call top Kuki militant leaders for a dialogue during these challenging times.

In response to the incident, the SDSA urged the paramilitary forces not to side with any armed groups and called for an expedited peace process to restore normalcy in the state. Authorities have yet to comment on the matter as the SDSA seeks immediate clarification.
