The Zo Women’s Movement has issued a statement condemning the recent reports of the alleged repeated rape of a minor girl in Churachandpur district, describing the crime as part of a “systemic epidemic” of violence that continues to devastate the community.

In the release, ZoWomen expressed deep anguish and outrage, calling the incident a brutal violation of one of the most vulnerable members of society. “Our hearts are broken, and our collective conscience is deeply disturbed,” the group said, adding that they refuse to let the crime be reduced to “just another tragic headline.”

The organisation stressed that the violence against women and children in the region is no longer isolated, but part of a disturbing pattern. “The last victim has not even seen justice, and already another child has been brutalised. This pattern cannot continue,” it stated.

Rejecting apologies and symbolic gestures, ZoWomen demanded the strictest legal action against the perpetrators and called for systemic reforms to ensure lasting protection for women and children. “We demand the identification, exposure, and removal of all those who prey on our children and violate our women,” the statement read.

The group also issued a direct appeal to community institutions including churches, schools, and local bodies to take an active role in addressing the crisis. “We demand your action. We demand that you speak out. There is no honour in silence—only in the protection of our children,” it urged.

ZoWomen reaffirmed their commitment to continue fighting for justice and systemic change, declaring: “We refuse to be silent, and we refuse to wait any longer. We will not rest until justice is served.”

The statement comes amid rising public anger over continued gender-based violence in the region, with many civil society groups echoing the call for immediate intervention and accountability.
