A. Sarda Plants Saplings on Tengjang Ching; Appeals to Everyone to Support and Participate in the Implementation of Government Policies and Programs
Thoubal, 16th May 2022: As part of Bharatiya Janata Party Manipur Pradesh’s "Save Environment, Save Youth, Save Future Generation" program, the party president A. Sarda Devi offered prayers to Tangjeng Ningthou Ibudhou and Ibendhou and initiated the plantation of tree saplings on Tengjang Ching. The party is planning to plant 5 lakh saplings of trees all over the state.
Speaking on the occasion, A. Sarda said that certain unwanted happenings occur due to global warming and change in the environmental condition due to various factors. The ill effects are so dreadful. And so, BJP is taking up the nationwide plantation program to help in reducing and reversing the drastic change in environmental conditions due to various human activities and other reasons.
She furthered that BJP has a total of 2800/900 Mandals in Manipur and each Mandal will plant 200 saplings as part of the party’s plan to plant 5 lakhs saplings in the state. And the party will also help in any way it can to implement the War on Drugs effectively and help save the lives of the younger generations of people., she added.
Terming the unlikely incident in which the team BJYM was obstructed from planting trees at Thangjing by locals as unfortunate, President Sarda said that a Manipuri has all the rights to plant saplings of trees anywhere in Manipur and help to save the environment. And the trees that they plant are not only for a community or a religious group, but it is for everyone in the state regardless of caste, creed, or race.
Citing that there has been wide and indiscriminate cutting down of forest in the hilly region for poppy plantation and it adversely affects the environment. It also traps many young ones in drug addiction., the President said BJP will support the government in formulating new laws and policies to eradicate poppy plantations and drug addiction from the soil of Manipur. She also appealed to every one in the state to support and extend help to the government in the implementation of policies and programs it takes up for the betterment of the state.
Leaders of the party including State Vice President L. Deben, General Secretary P. Premananda, K. Inaocha Devi, BJP Thoubal District President Y. Kumarjit, Social Worker Y. Nabachandra, and other executives and the Forest Department took part in the plantation program
