Construction of 200 prefabricated houses for displaced people in Progress for Sajiwa Site, Imphal East.
The state government announced that 4000 prefabricated houses will be built for the displaced people.
It is reported that more than 45,000 people were displaced in the ongoing conflict prevailing in the state since May 03.
Construction of 200 Prefabricated houses is in progress for Sajiwa Sites for the first phase of accommodation arrangements for displaced victims of Manipur's Crisis.
In response to the escalating violence that has forced people to flee their homes, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh announced on Monday a comprehensive plan to construct 3,000-4,000 pre-fabricated houses for those affected by the ongoing turmoil in the northeastern state.
During his visit to relief camps, Chief Minister Singh expressed his commitment to swiftly address the housing needs of the displaced individuals. These prefabricated houses, ready-made structures assembled at the designated locations, are expected to be completed within two months, offering temporary accommodation until permanent arrangements can be made to return them to their original dwellings.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court on Monday directed the Manipur government to submit an updated status report on the ethnic violence in the state. The court will hear the case next on July 10.
During the brief hearing, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta appearing for the Centre and Manipur government told the apex court that the situation in the state is improving, though slowly.
The hearing comes a day after the United Peoples' Front (UPF) and Kuki National Organisation (KNO), two umbrella Kuki organizations, have withdrawn roadblocks in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district on National Highway 2.
In a joint statement, the two organizations, which represent among others former militant groups that have signed suspension of operations pacts with the government, said the blockade on the highway has been lifted with immediate effect, following an appeal by Union home minister Amit Shah.
The organizations said the home minister had shown “deep concern to restore peace and harmony” in the state.
