Unknown miscreants set fire to a house at Chingnang Leikai, New Checkon on Thursday afternoon.

On seeing the rising smoke, a huge crowd of Meira Paibis took to street and protest the very incident calling it a conspiracy. The mothers said that no Meiteis was involved in setting fire to the house belong to Kuki Community, nor the Meiteis were in a position to commit such an act in such a tight security area. The exit and entry points of the lane is well-fenched. It is a well fetched plan of the Kukis and a conspiracy to show Meiteis to have committed the crime, added the angry mothers on the street.

Further, they said that as seen from distance, the family of the house being gutted down on Thursday shifted all their belongings and valuables some days earlier and set fire to the house themselves. It is a clear conspiracy to show the surrounding Meiteis to have committed the crime, continued the Meira Paibis.

The Meira Paibis also reported that each night they gather nearby, the Kuki neighbours also shot catapults to the gathering mothers often. It is the Kukis only who ignited the war and blamed the Meiteis to have started it.

In the Meantime, personnel from Central Paramilitary Forces and state police force rushed in two sides i.e. from Konung Mamang Side and the Meenuthong side and attempted to disperse the Meira Paibis in protest. The Meira Paibis got tensed with the security personnel and blocked the fire brigade team from dousing the fire. Later, the security personnel shot numerous tear gas shells towards the protesting mothers and dispersed the Meira Paibis.

A woman sustained injury on the head as the security personnel shot series of tear gas shells among the protesting mothers. She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital by a team of media persons.

Half an hour later, the fire brigade team drove their water canon vehicle next to the house and doused the fire.
