Illegal Structures and Plantations Along Irabot Road Evicted

Teams of SDO Wangoi, SDC, and police personnel from Wangoi and Mayang Imphal Police stations conducted an eviction drive along the Irabot Road(Mayai Lambi Road) on Saturday, the 11th of February 2023.

Illegal constructions, automobile workshops, shops, houses, plantations, etc, were demolished during the drive. The drive was supposed to remove all the illegal constructions from Hiyangthang Pallak to Top Siphai. However, the team could progress the drive up to Wangoi Bazar only.

The drive would continue on Sunday from a few meters to the South of Wangoi Bazar to Top Siphai, said N. Beikul, SDC Wangoi. He also said that the drive went through very peacefully, except that one or two shopkeepers claimed to have not received any notice regarding the drive. But the thing is, continued the SDC that the SDO and SDC Wangoi sent legal notices to residents along the Irabot Road regarding the matter way back in October 2022. The team also published a notice in local dailies. Besides, teams of Wangoi police station went for publicity ahead of the eviction.
