International Mother Language Day Observed at YK College - National Seminar Held
Thoubal, February 21- Internal Quality Assurance Cell, Research Committee, and Manipuri Department of Y. K. College Wangjing jointly observed International Mother Language Day and a 5th National Seminar on " Manipuri Language: Aspect of history, policy, Education and Tribal Languages " was held at the Mini Conference Hall of the College.
The National Seminar was attended by Associate Professor of the Linguistic Department of Manipur University Dr. H. Surmangol Sharma as Moderator and Principal of Y. K. College Dr. Soibam Giri Singh as President.
At the Seminar, Principal Dr. Soibam Giri expressed that the seminar is organized with the objectives of promoting and preserving our mother language, at the seminar various linguistic experts will read papers and the inference will be submitted to Research Committee for detailed discussion and it will be further submitted to competent authorities. He asserted that he has high hopes from growing generations that they will preserve and promote our Mother Language, Manipuri.
Assistant Professor Dr. L. Bijenkumar of Centre for Naga Tribal Languages and Studies, Nagaland University, Assistant Professor Dr. Longjam Anand and Dr. Sh. Ghanashyam of Manipuri Department, Y. K College Wangjing spokes as Speakers on the topic - " Language Endangerment and Languages of North East India ", " History of Manipuri Languages from 1885 Onwards " and " Linguistic Taboo in Manipuri Language " respectively. Associate Professor P. Somarendra and Assistant Professor N. Andropov of the English Department, Y. K College Wangjing attended as Rapporteur.
