Man sentenced to 10 years Rigorous Imprisonment for Outraging the Chastity of a Minor Girl
Imphal East, 14th May 2022: A special judge Fast Track Court 2 court has sentenced a man to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping a minor girl 3 years ago. The court also slapped a fine of Rupees 3000 under POCSO Act.
The person convicted of the crime is Samurailatpam Tomba Sharma (38 years), son of Samurailatpam Ibotombi of Yairipok Top Awang Leikai.
The court declared that the culprit was convicted of the crime on 11th May 2022 and conducted the sentencing hearing yesterday the 13th of May. He was brought to the court from Sajiwa Jail.
Meanwhile, the state has compensated Rupees two lakhs to the victim for her further studies, health care, and welfare works.
It can be remembered that S. Tomba committed the crime on 11th January 2019 at around 3.30 pm. However, the mother of the victim reported the crime on the 16th of May at the Women’s Police Station in Thoubal. While S. Tomba surrendered himself to have committed the crime to the police on the 29th of the same month.
