Manhandleat DIPR: Accused Remanded to Judicial Custody

Sana Meitram who got arrested for mishandling reporter of National and local female jounalist on Wednesday afternoon at the DIPR auditorium has been remanded to judicial custody at Central Jail Sajiwa after being produced before Duty Magistrate, Imphal West, the evening itself.
Following a complaint from the Director DIPR in the regard, City Police Imphal registered an FIR for allegedly mishandling an Aaj Tak journalist from New Delhi and a woman journalist at the auditorium.
As per witness, the accused - Sana entered inside the DIPR Auditorium, blamed Akshay Dongrey, the Aaj Tak reporter and his videographer colleague - Abhishek for spreading fake news to National Media. He also threatened to get them arrested for the same reason. He called up somebody whom he referred as the CM of Manipur, tell him to send Quick Response Team and arrest the non-local journalists from Delhi.
The accused left the auditorium and locked the main door from outside. After 5 minutes or so, he came back with a bunch of keys and lock, tore the routers and cables apart and threw them on the ground from the first floor. He came back quickly with the bunch of keys, dragged Akshay by the hand and assaulted him on the temple with the lock.
The accused also assaulted a woman reporter called Shalini of HY News when she tried to stop the accused from attacking Akshay further.
A team of journalists held a meeting with the CM in the regard. CM ordered SP Imphal to arrest the culprit and give him befitting punishment. He also ordered to keep security personnel at the DIPR to check non-professionals from entering the DIPR and for security reasons. The same order is put into action from Thursday at DIPR auditorium.
The accused was also booked under NIA recently during 2022 Manipur Vidhan Sabha Election for threatening some residents with guns.
So far no one knows the reason behind the attack on the journalist
