Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North East Region- Phase III: 10 Metric Tonnes of Dried Organic Turmeric to be Exported to Europe and other parts of India

Imphal, 13th May 2022: Horticulture and Soil Conservation Minister Letpao Kaokip flagged off 10 Metric Tons of Dried Organic Turmeric Exported to Europe and other parts of India today from Sanjenthong.

In case the poppy plantation workers are ready to shift to other sorts of plantation for a better change, the minister said that the horticulture department would extend help in every way it can for the growth and development of other plantation works for sustainable development.

Of the total 30 metric tonnes, the Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North East Region- Phase III would export, Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA) has exported 10 metric tonnes today.

The minister furthered and asked why can’t Manipur become a full-fledged organic state when a state like Sikkim manages to attain the organic state status. He also appeals to people in the state to contribute in every way they can to make Manipur an organic state.

He also insisted people for a reduction in the use of artificial fertilizers on their crops and vegetation and rely more on natural compost like cow dung and others of the sort.

The Director of Horticulture and Soil Conservation Dept, Aditional Director K. Devadutta, and other officials took part in the flag-off ceremony.
