One Killed, atleast 25 Injured in Police Firing in Manipur

One youth got killed and twenty-five other individuals sustained injuries as the 3rd IRB fired upon a mob of people in Thoubal Wangbal Manipur on Tuesday afternoon.

The unfortunate incident took place around 11.30 pm when IRB personnel blank fired upon a gang of youths approaching the 3rd Indian Reserved Batallion at Thoubal Wangbal.

Sources also said that a Assam Rifle's Vehicles have also been set on fire in Khangabok following the ill-fated incident in Khangabok.

The deceased has been identified as one Abujam Ronaldo (26 years), son of Late A. Ibungo and L. Debala  from Heirok Part III, Kabow Leikai. And the body has been deposited at RIMS mortuary.

Meanwhile, locals along National Highway No. 2 Imphal-Moreh Road took to streets in large number and blocked the road every few meters away using fire and other barricades in the bid to stop the movement of Assam Rifles and other Central Paramilitary Forces.

Situation is really grim in Imphal East, Thoubal and parts of Kakching.

Local Clubs Unite Over the Killing of One Abujam Ronaldo; Demand Termination of the Accused IRB Personnel

24 local clubs in Herok united to form an apex club on Tuesday and unanimously resolved the following,

  1. All clubs in Heirok unanimously decided to from a Joint Action Committee against the brutal Killing of Abujam Ronaldo.
  2. Thokchom Abung, President of Kabo Leikai Development Club and Secretary Abujam Boy of the deceased to become the President and the Secretary respectively for the apex club of the 24 clubs in Heirok.
  • Demands termination of Irengbam Rupachandra, 3rd IRB Personnel from Sambram Mayai Leikai for intentionally shooting the boy down.
  1. Demands complete cessation of firing upon the Meiteis by the Kuki Militants and stringent punishment be given to them within three working days.
  2. Withdrawal of SoO with the Kuki Militants and implementation of SoO ground rules strictly.
  3. Government of Manipur to hold responsibility of the crime committed today.
  • To never collect the body till the demands are met by the authority.
