In the view to sort out the water scarcity problem in the valley districts, the PHED Minister to PHED Mantri Leishangthem Shusindro has appealed to people around the Imphal River to stop direct washing of clothes and disposal of solid and liquid waste onto the river. If anybody continues to pollute the course of the river, the minister said that he would take legal action against the wrong-doers.

The minister said that the PHED department has started releasing water from the “Chingkhei Ching Water Treatment Plant” to the Imphal River in the hope of at least quenching the thirst of the general public in some areas. This water will be pumped up at the water supply stations along the Imphal River and supply it to every household.

However, the misfortune is that people around the Minuthong Telipati area to Kangla Nongpok often pollute the river by throwing solid and liquid waste from their kitchens directly.

Minister Sushildro also said that one should not indulge in anything that is against the laws and disturb others’ well-being.
