Poetry book "My Invented Land" by Robin Ngangom Released
A poetry book "My Invented Land" by Robin Ngangom was released at Ukiyo Bookstore on 13th February 2023. The book launch event was held with a conversation with Sweetie Sapam- who thoroughly discussed the book and the life of the author.
Robin S. Ngangom's poetry is the poetry of feeling, which draws the reader deep into the poet's world. The poem in "My Invented Land" showcases Ngangom's remarkable range- tracing his poetic arc from deeply personal to the political, from chronicles of private joy, sorrows, and everyday epiphanies to the poetry of witness that gazes unflinchingly at the realities that haunt the Northeast, his native land.
Born in 1959 in Imphal, Manipur Robin S. Ngangom is a bilingual poet and translator who writes in English and Manipuri. His first collection, words, and the silence was published in 1988 and since then, he has published two more volumes of poetry and a book of translations. He was invited to the UK Year of literature and writing in 1995, has read his poems at literary events in India and abroad, and his poems have appeared in several prestigious anthologists and magazines. He has also co-edited two significant anthologies of poetry from Northeast India.
The book release event was attended by prominent Manipuri poet, Travel Writer, and sports columnist Saratchand Thiyam, Senior Journalist and writer Anjulika Samom, Artist Akhu Chingabam, Social Activist Santhalembi Lisham, and many others.
