Porbandar Firing Incident: Wounded IRB Jawan Succumbs; Thoubal SP, 3rd IRB CO, and Others Pay Floral Tribute

In a heart-wrenching incident, Leimapokpam Surjit, a jawan of the 3rd IRB (Rfn 15007261) succumbed to his bullet wounds early in the morning on Wednesday. The deceased had been receiving medical treatment at GNRC hospital in Guwahati.

Leimapokpam Surjit, son of L. Iboyaima of Thoubal Athokpam, was deputed in Porbandar, Gujarat, for election duty in November last year. He got hurt badly when another jawan colleague fired rounds of bullets, killing two of his friends and injuring another two, including the deceased himself. The unfortunate incident occurred on November 26, 2022, around 6.30 pm.

The deceased was brought back yesterday around 8.30 from Guwahati on the suggestion of the GNRC Hospital to rest the ailing jawan at home in his last days. However, to everyone's despair, the ailing jawan succumbed to his injury around 5 am on the way on Wednesday.

SP Thoubal Jogeshchandra Haobijam IPS, 3rd IRB's CO L. Asana, and their security personnel paid floral tribute to the departed soul, and blank fired rounds of bullets in the air to salute the deceased.
