The Rongmei Naga People's Organisation (RNPO) will organise a two-day General Assembly in in Longmai, Tamenglong district on August 08 and 09, 2023.
The decision was taken at the Central Executive meeting held at Chungaizaeng, Burma Camp on Tuesday. Members hailing from the Manipur, Assam, and Nagaland units, along with representatives from prominent organizations such as the Rongmei Naga Youth Organisation, Rongmei Luh Phuam, and Rongmei Naga Students' Organisation were attended.
At the meeting, a proposal was put forth during the meeting to appoint Ningkhuon Gonmei from Nagaland as the Chief Commissioner of the RNPO Election Commission, with one representative each from Manipur and Assam.
Acknowledging the conclusion of the term of the Constitution Amendment Committee, the Central Executive formed a fresh committee to carry on its essential work. Mathew Rongmei was chosen as the committee's chairman, with Meijian Gonmei and Panti Kamei representing Nagaland, alongside two members from Manipur and one from Assam.
The Central Executive meeting concluded with a resounding commitment to address the organization's political and organizational challenges, striving for the betterment of the Rongmei Naga community as a whole.
Before delving into the agenda, a poignant moment of silence was observed by the attendees to honor the late Amu Kamei, the former president of RNPO, for his invaluable contributions.
The meeting was presided by RNPO Speaker Kadongai Panmei, and attended by RNPO President Chingkhiulung Gonmei and General Secretary Achong Gangmei. The gathering primarily focused on crucial political and organizational concerns that directly impact the RNPO and its constituents.
