Road Passing Through Thoubal Khunou Village Blocked Indefinitely From 27 February

Inter village road passing through Thoubal Khunou village of Wangkhem AC, Thoubal district is blocked indefinitely from 27th February by the people of Thoubal Khunou.

The IVR road passing through Thoubal Khunou has been deprived regular maintenance and blacktopping by the authorities concern despite numerous and frequent pleas. The road is crucial for the Dump Site and the new Composting and Segregation Shed of Thoubal Municipal Council recently inaugurated on October 14 by MAHUD, RD and PR Minister Y. Khemchand. Raged population who has been deprived good road protested and indefinitely blocked the road from yesterday.

Attending the protest President of Thoubal Khunou Meira Paibi Rita Taiyenjam expressed that the village of Thoubal Khunou is inhabited by more than 200 houses of Schedule Caste Community and the road is deprived of regular maintenance and blacktopping since it's last blacktopping before 8 years from now.

The condition of the road is further deteriorated by heavy vehicles of the department and garbage carrying vehicles coming to the Composting and Segregation Shed and dump site situated at the village.

MAHUD, RD & PR Minister during his inauguration visit assured a good quality road and people further requested to Minister about the matter many times, unfortunately the road is not repaired she added. She continued that they take such inaction as a downtrodden and oppression to the underprivileged Schedule Caste Community, and said that as a protest they indefinitely blocked the passing of vehicles through this road and appealed the concerns to repaired and blacktopped the road as soon as possible.
