Thoubal March 20: Ten Muslim organizations showed their full support to the Chief Minister’s ongoing War on Drugs. The organizations took various decisions in solidarity and vowed on Monday to unwaveringly support CM’s War on Drugs and one of the missions “Stop Deforestation.”
At the Oath-Taking ceremony held at Lilong Keithel (Lilong Market), Haji Arafat Khullakpam, Covenor - Meitei Pangal Council, Manipur, said that “CM’s War on Drugs to completely uproot drug cartels, poppy plantations, and other related activities from the face of the state is a necessary, wise and intelligent movement. If drug cartels and related activities are not kept under control, they will have a bad impact on the youths of the state. And all the sections in society must stand in solidarity and extend our support to the initiatives of the government and play our part in abolishing drugs and related activities.
The main purposes of the oath-taking ceremony were to “Stop Indiscriminate Cutting down of trees, conserve and preserve the forest lands and save wildlife in the region.
Expressing their strong condemnation against the mass plantation of poppy in some hill regions in the state, the convenor said on behalf of the organizations that the indiscriminate cutting down of trees and forests in the regions adversely affects the environment. People in the valley are facing water scarcity problems presently because of the destruction of forests and the environment in the hill regions of the state. So, poppy plantations and the destruction of forests for the same purpose must be banned immediately. We must stand against such activities, added the convenor.
Manipur Muslim Online Forum (MMOF) Manipur, President, Raees Ahamed Tampak, Manipur Muslim Welfare Organization (MMWO), President, Korimayum Boboy, and Pangal Students Organization (PSO), President, Farid Bogimayum expressed their strong support for CM’s War on Drugs.
All the participants at the press conference shouted "Manipurdagi Mayai kaba Nisha muthatlasi, Umang kokthokpagi maiyokta leplasi" meaning “We must destroy narcotic drugs in the state and stand against the destruction of forests.”
The conference was attended by the Manipur Muslim Welfare Organization, Meitei Pangal Council, All Manipur Muslim Students Organization, Pangal Students Organization, All Manipur Muslim Welfare and Development Organization, Muslim Students Association, Manipur Muslim Online Forum, PYDC, ADCCM, and important executives of Lilong Bazar Development Committee.
