Two alleged drug smugglers were killed in Manipur at two distinct sites.
According to the outlawed rebel group National Revolutionary Front, Manipur (NRFM), Kayenpaibam Nganga, 26, was slain, according to a statement from the NRFM communication and publicity secretary Sanajaoba Meitei, because of his involvement in drug smuggling cases.
On February 14, Nganga's bullet-riddled body was discovered on the Heingang River bank beneath Heingang Police Station in Imphal East District.
On another incident, a female drug smuggler named Hoikhling, 26 was allegedly slain by the group for her purported involvement in drug trafficking cases. On October 17, 2022, she was fatally murdered close to her home in the Churachandpur district village of Pholjang.
Furtehr, the NRFM issued a warning that some drug traffickers, dealers, and smugglers will soon face harsh penalties. In the meantime, during the course of the last 24 hours, police have detained three young NRFM cadres during various operations in the valley areas.
