World Glaucoma Week -2023 Observed in Thoubal District Hospital

As part of the world observing “World Glaucoma Week -2023” entitled "The World Is Bright, Save Your Sight", the National Programme for Control of Blindness & Visual Impairment (NPCB&VI), Thoubal and Eye Department, District Hospital, Thoubal, observed the same on Thursday at District Hospital Thoubal.

DC Thoubal Ahanthem Subhash Singh IAS attended the observation as the Chief Guest. While                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Chief Medical Officer Thoubal – Dr. Y Nokul Singh attended the observation as the President, Nodal Officer National Programme For Control Of Blindness cum District Family Welfare Officer – Dr. Ksh Memcha Devi, and Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Thoubal – Dr. W Ruhinikumar participated the observation as the special guests.

Speaking on the occasion, DC Thoubal Ahanthem Subhash IAS said that he is happy to hear that the installation of new equipment and machines in the hospital has made it easier to undergo operations and people from other districts show up to get treatment in Thoubal District hospital after the arrival of the new equipment in the hospital recently. The DC continued that once the Thoubal District Hospital has all the equipment, the hospital could serve up to the expectations of the people. And huge travel expenditures and time could also be saved in traversing up to JNIMS or RIMS for medical treatment, added the DC. He also asked the hospital officials to inform him in case there is any new equipment required for the full functioning of the hospital.

As part of the observation, Khundongbam Memma (70 years) from Heirok Part III and Khullakpam Itobi (65 years) from Irong Mayai Leikai said that they had undergone surgeries in both eyes free of cost in the hospital and are indebted to the hospital for their new lives. They also thanked the doctors and nurses in the hospital to have rendered selfless service to them. They also appealed to other people in and around Thoubal district to avail the services in the hospital and stop going to distant hospitals.
