Blockade on National Highway 37; Demand Adequate Doctors and Corresponding Staff
Noney, February 22- Demanding adequate doctors and its corresponding staff at PHC situated at Noney District Headquarters, the public of Noney blocked National Highway 37 and other national projects carried out at Noney for 60 hours starting from Wednesday 6:00 am.
Daily activities of Noney Bazaar has disrupted due to the blockade. Shops at Noney Bazaar were all closed and the movement of vehicles along the highway is restricted but for essential activities, the restrictions are bent.
They also warned that they will intensify their protest if the concerned department and authorities don't take action during this 60hrs blockade.
Earlier a press release stated that, In pursuance to the declaration made by the Public Convention on 16th February, 2023, at Longmai Bazar Shed represented by all the Local based CSO’s demanding adequate doctors and staff at PHC, Noney and other Health Centre of the district within an ultimatum of 4 days i.e. 16th – 19th February 2023, the government of Manipur had deliberately failed to honour the legitimate claim of the Right to basic health Care entitled to every dignified citizen of the state, the emergency Joint Leadership meeting convened by VCLA, had taken a midnight resolution that a Total Bandh is hereby declared on NH-37, for 60 hours i.e. 6:00 am of 22nd Feb. 2023 to 6:00 pm of 24th February, 2023, which will be further intensified if the concerned Authority continue to ignore the charter of demands duly presented.
All the commercial Vehicles, passenger, goods & all the enterprises within the jurisdiction of VCLA, including shops and Vegetable vendors and all the National project undertaking in the area are strongly advised to cooperate with the declaration. Considering the welfare of the public, the meeting further resolved to exempt the following from the purview of the bandh.
Transportation of students for school and exam (candidate are advised to produce the related document if required)
Medical Establishment and patient Marriage, funeral and other religious gatherings. Water supply, electricity Department, Press and Media will be exempted, said the released.
