Four Sustained Injuries as Alleged Kuki Militants Fired Upon a Crowd in Serou Awang Leikai
Four Meitei civilians sustained bullet injuries at Serou Awang Leikai when four Kuki militants hiding at a Metei house fired upon a group of civilians on Monday, the 5th of June 2023.
The frightening incident occurred when Salam Romeo, son of Pradhan Naobicha of Serou, and his friends rode by in a gypsy to refill oil at a tower nearby. However, the hiding Kuki militants fired heavily upon them. Four out of the six friends sustained bullet injuries. The victims were brought to Kakching Khunou Primary Health Centre and Jeevan Hospital for treatment. They were later shifted to Little Clinic in Hospital.
The particulars of the persons wounded are,
1. Yumlembam Korou (25 years)
s/o Y. Manao
Serou Mamang Leikai (Head and back injury with splinter)
2. Ksh. Okendro (31 years)
s/o Ksh. Ashalata
Serou Mayai Leikai (Head injury with a bullet)
3. Soibam Johny (27 years)
s/o S. Monby
Wangjing Hodamba Mamang Leikai
(Left Heel Injury with splinter)
4. Salam Romeo
S/o S. Naobicha ( Head injury with Splinter)
However, sources said that One is lying on the Jeepsy being targeted by the Kuki militants and another is missing. No one can get in and carry the person lying on the gypsy for the time being.
Shockingly, when combined forces and civilians entered Serou a day after, they found MLA K. Ranjit's House and other Meitei houses including 5 Bengali Houses have been completely gutted down. Reports also said that all the two-wheelers and four-wheelers including trucks, and Shaktimaan were also set ablaze. The vehicles parked at MLA's premises were also gutted down.
However, the inner parts of the MLA's residence have not been torched.
