DFO RK Amarjit Speaking to His Staff on the Occasion of International Day of Forest
As part of the observation of International Day of Forests -2023 in the World, the Central Forest Division also celebrated the day at the Mini-Conference hall at Mantripukhri Division on Tuesday.
The observation on the theme "Forests and Health" had discussions on the importance of forests and the unbreakable and inevitable relationship forests have with mankind. The Central Forest Division also discussed various cases registered under its ranges in the state.
Speaking on the occasion, DFO Rk. Amarjit, Conservator of Forest, Central Forest Division said that International Forest Day is the day of self-realization on how important forest is to mankind and the unavoidable relationship man has with the forest.
Expressing his pain over the condition of forests in the state, the DFO said that most of the forests in Manipur look empty because of massive deforestation for poppy plantations and wildfire. This has resulted in floods during the rainy season and drought during the dry season. He also appealed to every section of society to jointly stop illegal encroachment on forest areas and ignition of wildfires for their own selfish ends. Reserved Forest and Protected Forests, continued the DFO, are public property and we must protect them and preserve the beauty of mother nature, the hills, and the environment. We should save it as a blessing for the generations to come.
The staff of the Range Offices and Beads under the Central Forest Division participated in the observation of International Day of Forests -2023.
