Khwairamband Sit-in Protest: Demands no Seperate Administration
Khwairamband Mothers to submit Memorandum to the Prime Minister and the United nations; Sends Three-days Ultimatum to the State

Mothers of Khwairamband Keithel and surrounding shopkeepers staged a sit-in protest demanding no separate administration in Manipur against the demand of the ten Kuki MLAs on Thursday at Thangal Lane and subsequently took a four points resolution after hours of discussion.
The resolution thousands of women from each section of society collectively took are,
- Formation of a Joint Co-Ordination Committee for Peace
- A thorough investigation report on the current crisis and a memorandum to be submitted to the Prime Minister and the United Nations.
- Khwairamband Emas (Mothers) to Invite mothers of all sections in the state and jointly work to bring peace and harmony to the state.
- MPs and MLAs must go to New Delhi and Save Manipur from Disintegration.
The memorandum to be submitted to the Prime Minister and the UN includes the following demands,
- No separate administration in the state.
- Punishment be awarded to social media users for inciting violence. They also demanded non-suspension of the internet in the valley.
- Central security forces along with state Commados must begin Combing Operation first in Churachandpur, the epicenter of the current ethnic crisis, or else the security forces must stop conducting any combing operation in the state immediately.
- The Central and the state governments must take up immediate rehabilitation programs for the violence-hit victims. The government must arrange ways to resettle them permanently.
- Arrest and punish the Kuki Militants under the framework of the constitution for breaking SoO ground rules or withdraw SoO with the militants and declare them as terrorists.
- Adequate Supply of arms and ammunition to the state forces
- Permanent Removal of Assam Rifles from the State.
The mothers also gave an ultimatum of three days to the authority. In case the authorities and the concerned officials pay no heed to their demands, the Khwairamband mothers would lead other mothers from all sections and march in front of the security forces and ask the security personnel to kill them all.
Speaking on the occasion retired Professor Dr. Joykumar spoke on the main reasons behind the ethnic crisis in the state. He said it is not ST demand but the actions taken up, especially by the Chief Minister of the state, N. Biren Singh’s initiative to implement NRC in the state and implementation of the War on Drugs. Professor Dr. Chinglen and a member of AMBA - Tomcha also spoke on the same matter.
The speakers also talked of the necessity of the mothers to bring peace and harmony back to the state.
Besides the mothers' four Kwairamband Keithel (markets), various other women's organizations participated in the sit-in protest.
