Days after Kuki Militants fired upon Meitei Villages and subsequently arson all the houses in Serou and Sugnu areas, State Forces raided areas occupied by Kuki Militants and reclaimed various villages where some of the prominent leaders of Kuki Militant groups reside. After chasing the Kuki Militants (UKLF in particular) away successfully, the state forces conducted a combing operation at Thingkangphai Village and recovered heavy arms and ammunition including the local pipe at Thingkangphai village.

The combined team of the State forces headed by a DIG recovered loaded and unloaded local-made pipe bombs and other ammunitions. The Combined forces also destroyed numerous bunkers the Kuki militants made. They also reported that the Kuki militants based themselves at Y. Thingkangphai Govt. High School and used all the classrooms as their bunkers. The militants had been hanging around there for a month or so and they used to kill and eat pet animals.

As many as 10 GI Pipe Guns and petrol bombs were recovered. However, no Kuki militants nor any villagers were found there. But there were stains of fresh blood in the region

Though the state forces successfully recovered parts of Serou and Sugnu, the 37th Assam Rifles at the Forest Beat Office, Serou Lamkhai blocked the Meiteis from entering further.

The Assam Rifles even conduct frisking and checking of the police vehicles. Nor the media persons were an exception. The AR personnel even checked mobile phones and cameras the media persons carry with them. And this is an indication that the Meiteis won’t be able to settle in Serou free and fearlessly if the Assam Rifles continue to stay there, said the people.
