Locals form Human Chain; Protest against Home Minister Amit Shah’s Silence on Withdrawal of SoO with Kuki Militants

Locals from Keishamthong AC formed a huge Human Chain as a mark of protest against Home Minister Amit Shah’s silence on the withdrawal of the Suspension of operation.

Chongtham Iboyaima a protestor, said Amit Shah’s did not mention anything about the withdrawal of SoO with the Kuki Militants while the Minister talked of restoring peace in Manipur. “How can peace be restored without revoking SoO with the Kuki Militants”. All the crisis rooted out from the Kuki Militants. They used heavy sophisticated Arms and Ammunitions against the Meitei Civilians, arsoning Hundreds of houses belonging to the Meitei Community near the surrounding foothills, and killing many”, said Iboyaima the president of United Club Organization.

The protestor questioned “Why Amit Shah and Nityananda Rai are silent on the demands of the withdrawal of SoO by CSO’s in the state”. “Why are they kicked on talking about relief materials and granting of ex-gratia to the family of the victims killed during the communal clashes”. “Why are they not speaking against arsoning of houses and killing of Meiteis by the heavily armed Kuki Militants right in front of their eyes” during their present visit to the state?

Peace in Manipur will come automatically once the SoO is withdrawn, said the protestors.

Large crowds of people in the Human chain also held placards and shouted slogans demanding- withdrawal of SoO with the Kuki Militants, opening of the inhuman economic blockade on the National Highways, restoration of peace and harmony in the state, and saving and protecting the integrity and unity of Manipur.
