Merciless Killing of Irengbam Chingkheinganba and Sagolshem Nganleiba: Sit-in-Protest Staged at Sekmaijing Market

Large number of people staged a sit-in protest on Thursday at Sekmaijing KeitheI (market), Kakching District against the merciless killing of two Meitei youths by the alleged Kuki militants on 4th July 2023.
The two went to Leikinthabi (under Sekmai Police Station), to help the local village Volunteer forces, protecting the locals of Leikinthabi from the attack of the heavily armed Kuki militants. And the two had communication with the family till 4 pm on the same day.
The two have been identified as Irengbam Chingkheinganba (26 years), son of Irengbam Dhana, and Sagolshem Nganleiba (33 years), son of Sagolshem Ibochou. Both are from Sekmaijing Khunou, some 32 kilometers to the south of Imphal city.
The two were mercilessly tortured before they were killed finally by the alleged Kuki militants.
The brutal killing of the two came to light around 9 pm on 5th July when a video went viral on Facebook. One of the two was handcuffed and blindfolded and shot down from point blank on the back of his head and later kicked him down to a large pit. While the other was handcuffed behind and ruthlessly tortured in the video.
Meanwhile, the protesters condemned the inhuman act and asked the government to handover the bodies to the families of the deceased in three days and subsequently look into the hardship and pain the families are going through presently.
They also demanded the state and the central government should wait till every family has a casualty and sort out the ongoing conflict at the earliest and restore peace and normalcy in the state.
While condemning the merciless act, Pakpi, mother of Irengbam Chingkheinganba and Silvia, wife of Sagolshem Nganleiba pleaded government for their attention and to deliver the bodies of their loved ones.
The protestors also sought against the Kuki Militants for killing innocent people. They also demanded withdrawal of the SoO with the Kuki Militants, stringent punishment of the Kuki militants for breaking SoO ground rules, and many others.
