New Sports Pavilion Handed to the People by ASSCDC Awang Sekmai
Awang Sekmai, May 10- Awang Sekmai Development Committee handed 3 Sports Pavilion to the people of Sekmai before. The 4th pavilion 'Kaojengleima Mamang Leikai Sports Pavilion' was handed to the people on Monday at around 7:30 am by Committee President Khwairakpam Surjamani.

The handing of the Sports Pavilion was attended by Khurkhul Gram Panchayat Pradhan Irungbam Shanta as Chief Guest, Sekmai AC Ex-MLA Khwairakpam Devendro as President, Committee President Khwairakpam Raghumani as Inaugurator and Retd. AE Moirangthem Borajao as Special Guest and other members of the committee.

Giving the presidential speech Khwairakpam Surjamani said that they constructed the pavilion to empower the budding athletes and encourage them. So far, 4 pavilions have been constructed and handed to the people of Sekmai. Committee Secretary Ishwarchandra speaks about the achievements and development work done by the committee which includes the renovation of the Iron Bridge at Sekmai Makha Leikai, blacktopping of the road from Koubru Lai Haraopham to Kaojengleima Lai Lam Thokpham, construction of irrigation canals, etc.
Pradhan Irungbam Shanta appreciated the work of the Committee, he said that constructing the pavilion not only encourages youth towards sport but also can save them from going towards drug addiction. He said that it is a good initiative. Ex- MLA Khwairakpam Devendro said that people and youth nowadays like sports and many new talented sportspeople are budding, so it is important to encourage and empower them. He urges the people to encourage the youth toward sports. A friendly football match was also played.
