Ningthoujam Popilal Granted Anticipatory Bail; Fixed 27th February 2023 for Next Report and Hearing

Sessions Judge, Imphal West, on Thursday, the 16th of February, granted interim bail to Ningthoujam Popilal Singh after the OC Lamphel PS submitted a detailed report in connection with the FIR case no. 32(2)2023 Lamphel PS.

The order came out vide order dated 13th February 2023 in which the court directed the OC Lamphel PS to submit a detailed report in connection with the FIR case. The court fixed Thursday, the 16th of February 2023 for a hearing on whether the anticipatory bail or interim relief would be granted or not.

However, after the Lamphel Ps submitted the detailed report of the FIR filed against N. Popilal, the court granted the interim anticipatory bail to the petitioner in connection with the above-referred FIR case till the next date. The court also has directed that in the event of arrest in connection with the FIR, the petitioner shall be released on interim bail on furnishing of a PR bond of Rs 30,000/- (Rupees Thirty Thousand) only with one surety of the like amount on the conditions that:
1. the petitioner shall cooperate with the investigation,
2. the petitioner shall make available before the investigating authority,
3. the petitioner shall not influence prosecution witnesses and
4. the petitioner shall not leave the State of Manipur without prior permission of the Court.

Notably, it was in view of the demise of the grandmother of the petitioner as well as the non-availability of the detailed report of the FIR case that the sessions court Imphal West granted the interim anticipatory bail and fix another date for
hearing the matter.

The sessions court has also fixed 27th February 2023 for the next report and hearing.

Ningthoujam Popilal applied for anticipatory bail under section 438 CrPC at the Court of Sessions Judge Imphal West in connection with FIR No. 32(2)2023 Lamphel PS.
