Sawmills and Plywood Factories Shut down in Thoubal following Invalid Licence
Thoubal, May 11: DFO Thoubal Forest Division shut down several sawmills and plywood factories today on the ground of sub-standard and absence of valid licenses.
The DFO - Th. Lokendro said the North East Wood Industry is sealed from today onwards as it doesn’t meet the basic rules and regulations. The industry doesn’t have a valid license, nor has it submitted the required documents to run a factory despite orders from the DFO in 2020.
The Wood Industry has been in operation for years without consent from the Thoubal Forest Subdivision. So, the woods and the beams would be recovered, and subsequently arrest the owner of the factory, added the DFO.
