UTPAM Agitation Enters 15th Day: Yet No Positive Response from Government
Imphal, 9th May 2022: UTPAM’s agitation movement continues as the government doesn’t give any positive response to the demand for immediate implementation of seven pay commissions for the primary teachers under Education(S).
The primary teachers in different schools wore black badges and staged a protest in front of the school before they went to take classes supporting UTPAM’s democratic and peaceful agitation. The agitation demanded the implementation of the Seventh Pay Commission for primary teachers.
Meanwhile, Bibatsu Salam, Secretary of UPTAM in his statement said, though ROP 2019 has been implemented in different institutions in the state, no such thing has been implemented so far for the primary teachers under Education(S). Dissatisfied with this partiality, the primary teachers decided to wear black badges and take classes. Still, the government hasn’t responded so far.
He doubted if the government considers them to be mere fools.
He continued that teachers play a very important role in shaping the future of society. The teachers mold and shape the lives of the students. And, they don’t want under any condition to stop teaching the students who couldn’t avail physical classes for the last two years owing to Covid Pandemic. So, they continue to take classes for the students on one side and wear black badges on the other side as part of their protest against the non-implementation of ROP for the primary teachers.
