Thoubal November 13 - A cycle rally was organized at Khangabok, Thoubal District giving awareness to the farmer about the burning of rice straw and its loss. The rally was organized by Voluntary Network for Green Earth Manipur, it was flagged off from Khangabok Part 2 Ikop Ningthou Laibung by L. Devan, President, Voluntary Network. After rallying and giving awareness across the Khangabok village the rally ended at Ikop Ningthou Laibung. Speaking to the press L. Devan said that burning rice straw doesn't only pollute the air but also decreases the fertility of the soil. And it does affect the surrounding vegetation and tree. To avoid all this L. Devan urges the government to arrange an alternative measure or even the conversion of rice straw into organic manure if possible.
