World TB Day Observed at Chandel
Chandel, March 25- District Health Society National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NTEP) Chandel District in collaboration with Piramal Swasthya Management and Research Institute observed the 42nd World Tuberculosis (TB) Day at District TB center Chandel.
The observation held on the theme " Yes We Can End TB " was graced by Chief Medical Officer Chandel Dr. Serthani Serbum as Chief Guest, District TB Officer Chandel Dr. Tongan Roel as Functionary President, and District Malaria Officer Chandel Dr. Siarloa Similan Aimol as Guest of Honor.
During the event, the resource Person of the day spokes about TB, a short video on TB awareness produced and sponsored by the Piramal Foundation was shown, and a quiz program for students was held. Winners of the quiz were awarded cash prizes and 6 TB cured patients were handed gifts.
Addressing the observation CMO Chandel Dr. Serthani Serbum asserted their goal of TB eradication by 2025. He further that proper equipment, medication from the concerned department, and good care and support from the people is very essential in eradication activities. CMO Chandel continued that early detection, and medication can avoid and cure TB, however only the efforts of the staff of the Department can't eradicate TB. As the department provides free treatment from detection, to proper treatment and medication and is also persuaded to approach this benefits by TB infected patients.
